SC Johnson and Liverpool Football Club Present: Don’t Lose Your Bottle |
Don’t Lose Your Bottle Challenge "Don’t Lose Your Bottle” is a new community awareness campaign from LFC and SCJ. Running throughout Earth Month, the campaign aims to improve plastic recycling, and raise awareness of the plastic life cycle. By working with the local Liverpool community on a series of events including Merseyside clean-ups, education programs, and school competitions with the LFC Foundation, we hope to have a positive impact for local people as well as the environment. Centered on the simple message that fans and community members can make a big environmental difference by sticking to reusable bottles on and off the pitch, Don’t Lose Your Bottle encourages increased recycling and less use of single-use, virgin plastics. Speaking on the campaign, Alan VanderMolen, our Chief Communications Officer said: “We are thrilled to launch Don’t Lose Your Bottle and take good recycling habits beyond the stadium and into the local community. An astonishing amount of waste is left behind after each football game and if every fan could remember to hold onto their reusable bottle, we would see a significant change both for Liverpool and for our planet.” To kick off the campaign, leading Liverpool players Divock Origi, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Adrián sat down to discuss what ‘Don’t Lose Your Bottle’ means to them as footballers. Through this insightful video, fans are reminded of the impact single-use plastic has on our planet, as they hear first-hand from their footballing heroes. ![]() |

Learn more about SC Johnson and Liverpool Football Club’s partnership As a family company committed to a more sustainable world, we’re teaming up with Liverpool Football Club to recycle plastic bottles used at Anfield each season. Starting with the 2021 season, fans have had the opportunity to place their plastic beverage bottles in specially designed receptacles. The bottles will then be upcycled into new Mr Muscle® bottles, contributing to the circular plastic economy. This is the first U.K. professional sports team to link a waste stream to a specific product, closing the recycling loop and tackling one of the biggest barriers to plastic recycling globally. Not only does this partnership allow fans to make a hands-on impact, but it also raises awareness about recycling. Fans will also learn more about the recycling program and its potential impact.
